The family practice was a joint venture between Chambersburg-based Summit Health and Norland Family Practice, based in Greene Township, Franklin County. The venture was dissolved, and Summit Physician Services-owned Valley Medical Group moved into the Shippensburg Township location at 46 Walnut Bottom Road, from its previous location at 411 S. Fayette St., in Shippensburg Township.

The practice name has been changed to the Shippensburg Family & Walk-in Care, according to the news release. The hours also changed; it's now open 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, to match the hours of Summit Health's other family and walk-in care center.

The name was changed to more accurately reflect its location and services, said Niki Showe, vice president of Summit Physician Services.

Most of the employees at the family practice were either hired by Summit Physician Services or by Norland Family Practice, she said.

The walk-in care side will continue to treat minor illnesses and injuries with no appointment needed, Summit said. Appointments must be scheduled at the family practice.

An affiliate of Chambersburg-based nonprofit Summit Health, the physician services division supports physician practices throughout the health system's network, the company said.
